Thanks
I'm going to make more of an effort to join groups at the weekend as that's always nice. New roads and new places should help, everything I do now is probably too comfortable.
That's a good idea, everything I plan for cycling now seems to be bigger than what I'm currently doing. Maybe a weekend away off the bike and a non cycling holiday will help with the challenge ending. It's strange progressing with this challenge as it's very normal now. Committing all my time and resources to something with a purpose is fun and there's not much spare time to faff. There's definitely going to be a void once I've completed this. Yes I commute, it's between 250-300km a week which will keep my legs ticking over till I start training for the next thing.

'You're at the stage of having essentially cracked it but, because of the scale of the thing, it is still a hell of a long way to go in actual km and hours' This is exactly it.
I'm going to take a long weekend every month to keep on top of the distance and do some of my favourite longer routes. I don't want to go to mad with mini-challenges due to injuring with the idea of a racing. I'm keen on adapting my riding to training, some intervals and cadence work would help to keep my mind interested especially while on the turbo which I'm finding boring AF.
The Holland trip will be to test my new Isen r3 which hopefully I can get built up to where I want by late spring. Essentially i need a decent set of wheels for this and the frame will be ready by Jan/Feb.
The reason why I'm doing this challenge is definitely keeping me motivated, I'm keen to push the charity side of this more. I haven't had much correspondence with CALM so I'm going to poke them this week. I feel on top of the riding side of this challenge, it's just the publicity part which I haven't a lot of except for a little bit of Instagram.

To update you, yesterday I was on day 254 at 25,451km. Last week I managed 706km which I was pleased with and I'm planning on taking Friday off to get back to being over 100km up. I did a good ride yesterday afternoon so I'm feeling back to normal post Further East.
I'm finding this part of the challenge odd as there's obviously a few months to go but I'm in a position that I feel it's achievable. I'm also planning what I want to do next year, one trip will be a weekend trip to Holland and cycling the length of the country. Ferry after work on Friday from Harwich and one back on Sunday night ready to be at work on Monday. Who's in??

Thank you. I've been meaning to contact the local press for ages now, I didn't want to at the start because of the risk of failure but now I'm approaching 100 days left. It will definitely help to promote the cause and could be good to get more local coverage (currently googling contacts info).
I think 10,000km for a year is a great goal as it takes a lot of regular riding to achieve it and it's too large of a amount to have a good summer and get it done. Thanks it's going to get harder in the coming weeks as I will have 2 dogs to fully look after too so this will remove by 40minutes of chill time after dinner before bed..

I'm starting to recover from the knee pain which is great, swapping position/bikes from the commute to evening ride seems to help. I've been doing more zwift than i like but it's good for the consistency, not as much pushing off at junctions which seems to be where I'm in most pain. A physio for a GF is the most handy thing though :) we do a lot of PNF stretching which helps to lengthen my quads as they're getting pretty tight which is causing the issue.
Anyway sunrise rides are cool

You could definitely wild camp between Coney Weston and Knettishall on the 13 route, there's plenty of woods where you'd be sheltered but be aware of wild horses inside the park.
From the 13 there's a number of ways to get into Norwich, are you looking for a scenic route? I'd assume you would like to go through places for breakfast etc?

For those who are interested I've got a running list of things I've gotten through this year. My wheels and rear derailleur are currently getting close to be changed, the derailleur will be ordered as i have a lot of lateral movement in the cage. According to the park tool video it needs replacing, I've tried to service it e.g checking all bolts are tight but it's making a lot of noise as it goes up the gears.
I should of called it reasons why i don't have a full house deposit or reasons why i swear at my bike

The last day of this challenge will be Saturday 22nd of January, with the idea on the day is to do one of my favourite routes and end at a pub, there's a couple which I like in Norwich (one's a brewery so more likely there as it's got a decent amount of space). If @hippy offers a beer then it has to end at a pub right?
@MisterTomTom Yes to Festive 500 in one go, doing a 500km ride is something that I've wanted to do for a while now and unfortunately didn't achieve it with Further East so I'll do it around Xmas as i have time off to recover etc.

The forum helps a lot too be honest, I'm glad I've got this page. Not only for advice but it's a good way of documenting the challenge and for others to get behind it.
My knee issues are coming from an imbalance of muscles so with strength work after the challenge it should be good long term.
The mental side varies, riding gives me a lot of clarity which I enjoy. There's times that I think i'm running away from wider issues and haven't taken some serious things that have happened this year fully in emotionally e.g family fatality and illness. It's hard when there's a daily/weekly/year long goal that needs to be achieved, to let too much distract you away from that even if it's something big.

Currently sitting at day 261 at 26,222km. I had Friday off work and managed 215km with one of my mates, was great to do a big ride when the weather was nice. I've been pretty tired since this ride but it was definitely worth it as I'm now sitting at a day ahead.
