Sprucing up an old Btwin triban as a starter road bike. Went to retape the bars and found the shifters attached like this which makes it bloody hard to get the bar tape around. Trying to tape over it makes it look like shite.

Could just wrap around and just skip that spot. But there will be a black metal thing poking out.

Does anyone have a work around?

edit: it's an old 7 speed sora shifter...replace the clamps with these? anything cheaper?

I'm trying to fine tune my straggler and something doesn't feel right and I think it has to do with where my saddle is relative to the BB. I think.

bikefitting is a minefield and surly sizing is just weird.

I thought stack and reach accounted for angles... hmph.

They are both about the same weight. I only really do camping in spring/summer (I'm weedy that way).
