You and me both. I guess it's not the worst thing in the world if I start with the intention of hideousness and wind up with something classy, but still a little bummed. Unfortunately came down to simple cost, in the end.

Still, it'll be a tarck bike getting ridden in the Baltimore winter, so hopefully that'll be enough to enrage the purists.

lol. Partially true but also I don't particularly love the aesthetic of super contrasty lug lining. Plus this way the pantographing stands out more.

Well I’ll be the first to admit there were a couple spots where I let Jesus take the wheel and it got a lil fucked up, but I've done some lug lining with a black paint pen, and some pantograph filling with a yellow one. I think if I source decals (or make my own) the colors will match pretty nicely, which will be cool.

Now I just have to get the headset and bb areas faced, toss a headset in there, and acquire a seatpost binder bolt, and I can start putting parts on.

omg I hadn't even noticed that the cable hanger is integrated into the truss when I posted it from my phone. God I want that bike.

I don't think I've liked a single one of their paint jobs. They all feel like they take inspiration from a high-end postmodernist furniture store in exactly the wrong way.

Love this, especially since Deluxe is always posting nice but really spendy bikes. Good to see a crazy rat bike on their page.

Open question: if any of y'all have done painting/masking on your own bikes, have you used traditional blue painter's tape, or something closer to electrical tape? I've masked the lugs with painter's tape but it seems to me that electrical tape might give cleaner lines.

Ooh pink is an option I hadn't considered but I don't mind it. I was thinking like a cream for the accent tubes and mustard-ish yellow for the lug lining buuut I like that idea too

Aaaawwww yeaaaa. So the powder coating folks, while a pain to work with, laid down the powder pretty dang well. Lugs and pantographing still look nice and crisp. The color is really weird and tough to photograph, but here's a tease. I think I might try to grab some Spray.Bike cans and do some masking to give the seat tube and head tube an accent color between the lugs, as this bronze is just kinda overwhelming when it's the whole frame. Anyway: progress!

Put some crazy old tires on the tarck bike today that go gumwall-> red -> black. That plus the matching saddle puts me at truly 2007 levels of hhsb awesomeness/ugliness, I figure

Ronny, what happened? Most of your others were reposts and/or image imbed fails but at least nice bikes. That Bianchi… holy hell it is ugly, and I say that as a dude who is in favor of wild, over-the-top bikes.
