Yeah, was the rise more than the width that struck me! Not sure I’d be able to control the speed the front end pops up with that, as I’m so used to a longer lower set-up.
I’m getting on a bit now and tried a mates 22” wheel bmx - it was really nice to ride. If you’re no longer spinning much and just flowing around and trails riding it’s a good option for me I think.
[edit, this was in reply to Jameski!]

Up in Shropshire for the week seeing family and very glad I brought the monster truck as am having huge fun exploring on and off-road up here. About 30 mins on the peaceful lanes and you’re into endless hills, bridleways, super techy descents and savage climbs. Had a huge amount of fun today - got totally lost in the best possible way.

That was the goal! Not racing road bikes anymore so got rid of the race bike and winter beater and replaced them both with this. It’s one of the Stayer Crit batch frames, but Sam put some mudguard mounts on for me and takes 28c plus guards. So should be the perfect mix of lively, fast ride for smashing around in Summer but enough comfort and clearance to handle the winter miles too.

Finally finished building up the Stayer and took it for a long first ride today. Few little niggles to sort (my mechanic skills not the frame) but the ride is really great - going to be a great companion for year-round miles. Will be getting some silly wheels for summer, but current set-up is perfect for this weather.
Slightly off topic, but just dug a pair of Giro Empires out of the cupboard that I bought a few years ago because total bargain. In getting them set-up, I’ve found one of the cleat bolt holes has no thread in it at all! So can only put two screws in. Any idea if I could bodge this without dying, or should I just reserve these for turbo use?
