Nice chat on Bishopsgate this morning with whoever bought @Dick 's old Rouke. Such a great looking bike - took every inch of willpower not to buy that so I'm glad it has gone to a good home!

Total dredge reply sorry, but just wondering what width tyres you have on there. Thinking of going up from 28 to 35 on my Pompino with guards and wondered what the clearance would be like. Looks like you have something similar here. Can I ask what wheels they are too? Looking for some fixed wheels that will take 35 tyres. Cheers!

Yes definitely, some interesting thoughts on where the vote would have landed had everybody voted. The problem I think is even if the government were willing to engage with these points (rather big 'if') there isn't much concrete for it to grasp onto. It is sadly very easy to rebut a demand for a second referendum - complacency and personal reasons for not voting the first time round aren't enough. I also don't see the 'now that more people are aware of the consequences' argument, as people will simply counter that we haven't even triggered Article 50 yet, so how can we meaningfully discuss consequences.
I do completely agree that the absolute we won/you lost viewpoint is neither helpful nor arguably accurate. I'm rather at a loss about what to do about it though. I've just got a job abroad and will be emigrating in about 5 months time with my wife and baby which I will be sad about, but I don't feel the love for this place like I used to. Time for some positive adventures!!

Interesting read, thanks. I do find the logic hard to follow though (i.e. polls before referendum were totally wrong, but polls post referendum that support my view are definitely right). I appreciate there are nuances in the article about Remain voters not turning out to vote, but there doesn't seem to be much (other than his personal opinion) to suggest anything would be different a second time round regarding voter turnout.
Just such a shame people didn't go and vote. I can't imagine being completely apathetic to something like this.

First week back riding fixed after about three (probably over-cautious) years on the gears following some pretty hefty ankle surgery. Forgot how much better it is around London! Think I'll keep both brakes fitted while I get back into the swing of things and re-discover those back-peddling muscles! Only a tipper truck swinging across two lanes at me without indicating wiped the smile off my face.

The Croix de Fer build further up the thread was rad but left Mrs Otter without a training bike which was pretty essential for getting her racing legs back post-baby. While we were in hospital I got Jean at Pretorius to build her up an Outeniqua disc as a suprise. He even etched in a family 'in joke' onto the top tube to put a smile on her face whilst she is slogging out those hard miles. Need to cut steerer once dialled in and replace chainset with her powermeter, but otherwise it's good to hammer out the miles! Nice to have Mrs Otter on a Pretorius too.

Cheers! Lots of inspiration taken from the various iterations put together by @spotter in his great thread.

Yeah 11-42 at the back. It is super spinny, but I'm reliably informed that when you're 9 months pregnant 'spin for the win' takes on a whole new meaning! Will adjust the ratios in the coming months. On the rack, yeah we've got a low-cut rando bag that fits under the loop of the bars fine. Most of the time she has just got a bag or whatever with bungee cords on it though and has panniers. Sacrificed perfect bag access for the multiple hand positions the bars give you. I don't think she'll need TT bars ever as the top loop gets her pretty stretched out - maybe when we do some big touring later in the year though - lots to play with.

If anyone wants them I've got a pair of Assos T Fi.Mille s5 regular leg bibs - they were a gift but didn't fit. Road a sedate 20 mins to work and back and that's it. Think they are about £120 new, so £50? They have the blue dimpley pad. Ping me a PM if of any use.
Edit: size L (180 - 185 cm height).
What a great race to aim for! I'm certainly no mtb guy but have done lots of endurance rodie stuff so just shout if you need a companion on a training ride. Does wonders for your confidence having someone to ride with, if you're just chatting away time will fly.
Good luck with the turbo - got any specific training plan on the computer or just spinning the legs for the time being?
Will follow with interest, would love to do something like this in the future (if for no other reason than to build a bike for the job!).
