I need to read this thread more. Starting to mess about with stuff in my flat
Currently going to strip off all the old wallpaper and lining paper. Bikes going up. Going to see about fitting this fireplace for show (maybe add one of those chimney balloons as it draws air currently).
Kitchen /bathroom still way off

Decorating.
Every room has thus perforated wallpaper above where the picture rails would have been. Came off super easy on my test bit with a heat gun and scraper.
Below the picture rail, lining paper stuck to old wallpaper which is a different story. Surface isn't too bad so may leave the lower bit..... -
Sweet cheers.
@chiroshi I think I have room to keep them same level -

@dbr hooks to go up at the weekend (nice to meet you Saturday and thanks again)
Just re reading this thread and looking at a discussion between @jakemcree and @giofox, did you find out why mounting them lower on the wall is preferable?
3 bikes so 2 sets of drop bars at the top of the 2 other hooks. Easy to measure how much space they need, but how shall I measure how much space to leave for the middle road bike which is upside down?

Can anyone recommend a good middle of the road kitchen and bathroom shop or two please, preferably in Bristol.
Looking to go middle of the road kitchen, maybe howdens? Heard mixed things about wren and ikea quality.
Similarly bathroom - where to get the suite from? Happy to spend a bit more here.
Have someone who will do the fitting I think.

Cheers @Sharkstar, @rhowe think old panel heater from looking into it a bit more. Will leave it but get the next electrician who is round to investigate/ remove the switch/ tuck the wire under the floorboards

Started to open up my bedroom's chimney breast this weekend and found 3 bird skeletons which wasn't pleasant. Don't think anyone messed about when bricking up this fireplace
I have a few switches (this one pictured in my lounge) and have no idea what it does. I've identified one elsewhere as being for the bathroom's electric radiator. There's at least 2 more I don't know what they do. Any ideas?
Also about to look for a classic style radiator that's significantly bigger as I am about half the BTU I need to be

Please can I have some garage advice?
Mid December I dropped my car into a garage for an engine diagnostic as I had an engine warning light. £50. Was either the cam sensor or the glow plugs iircHe couldn't do any more work that day so booked it in for yesterday.
£250 for a new sensor, decided against as the car isn't worth much.
£190 for new glow plugs. I said yes.
Get a call today saying the broken glow plug has snapped and it'll be +£150 on top of the £190 as they need an engineering firm to come out.
There was no warning that this might happen and that work needs doing, as the car won't currently start ..
I could potentially get behind splitting the extra £150 but not sure why I should be paying all of it given the lack of warning
Cheers

Cheap PX hooks in my girlfriend's flat. Put one up with 2 screws only to start and in the middle.
130mm ISH gap and if the bikes are one up one down, I'm pretty sure I could get 2 hooks in. She only has 1 bike though and it's a 1 bed flat so will leave it like this for now.
Got some spare skirting board I'll trim down and use for the other wheel

Leaseholders..!
Myself and the four other flats have a good title lease with the manaagement company, who themselves are ran by the 5 flats and have a good title lease with an absent freeholder. Is it worth spending money upgrading both titles from good to absolute?
Quote below from my solicitor who did my conveyancing earlier in the year.
My fees for dealing with the upgrades of the titles will be £400 +VAT for the upgrade of the head lease title and £150 +VAT for each of the respective leasehold titles. In addition to this there will be Land Registry fees payable of £40 per application.
Been doing some research on it but wanted a second opinion. Cheers!
brand new and first use. Bought the drill before xmas and got a set of bosch bits to go with it. I think it has gone through the plaster but none of the stone
