I have similar dilemmas with myself all the time. If I were you, I would not want to ruin or downgrade the Argos and would share the concern with locking it. Why don't you keep that on the wall as a feature that you can still use, still then have 3 bikes (photo attached) and build up a beater with 32c/rack/guards that you can lock anywhere/maybe keep outside (photo attached). Could you keep a beater at work?

@hugo7 definitely keeping it now this thread has shown me some sense. Either with me or my sister. Cheers :)

@coppiThat yeah that is 100% true. Will keep it. Agree with whoever said about a wider strap an using it for dressier occasions. Need to get a seiko fixed soon so I'll put the OG metal strap back on and try it out for a bit. Cheers all :)

@JB 25mm actual face and 34mm ish including the casing. He suggest Part ex because (guessing here), rather than pass me something down that will sit in a drawer, he'd rather me have something larger that I would actually use.

This was my dad’s 21st present from the 80s. Not been touched for 20+ years. He has large wrists so was never going to be able to wear it, despite changing the strap when purchased. At the time it was all my grandparents could afford (£193.38 all in).
Not sure what to do with it - my sister could have it maybe. My dad mentioned my 21st coming up in a few months and I like the idea of getting me a nice watch., perhaps by part exchanging this. -
@spotter Thanks for this. Can't go wrong for £20! I will get mine fixed and just keep it :)

Just stumbled across this thread and upon seeing loads of Seiko Automatics, though I would share this and ask for some advice please. It belonged to my great Grandad, who got it from collecting stamps or something from cigarette packets. My nan thought it wasn't anything special. Anyway about 2 years ago I dug it out, wound it up and fitted a new strap - and then wore it most days. Not sure how but the third hand broke.
How much roughly would a repair be? I don't think it is worth much (not that I'd sell it) but may be worth repairing anyway from a sentimental point of view.
Thanks

@TheShipwright yeah they do! Found it on the website https://www.merciancycles.co.uk/online-shop/home/mercian-frame-search/?v=79cba1185463

@coppiThat I think I know what it is worth roughly, was just asking about the model! Some kind of touring frame? Thanks

Got this from a work colleague on a Yammer for sale group today. Too small for me, but it may fit a mate or my sister, or I may tidy it up and pass it on. He had it build new in 2000 and it was in a magazine allegedly for a road test, which the seller is trying to dig out. 531C, Good condition, lots of campag, brakes set up US /switch style randomly, and it had a new record headset put in 200 miles ago. Not used much he was saying.
anyone know what model it is please?

Hello - I bought some brake levers on eBay 90s shimano (guessing) to fit on some cinelli bars from similar period but they are too narrow. What levers / size should I be looking at for these bars please? They fitted on some old British drop bars I had lying around but these are wrong for the stem
