Half an hour of messing about, re-sets etc later, I accidentally pressed the power button and... There it is!

Thanks - I accidentally deleted my ride whilst I was trying to get it re-synch with the previous version of the app.

So I think those data are lost, but good to see a fix has been done.

Does it matter for insurance purposes who owns the vehicle?

Just occurred to me that I've put the finance etc for new car in my name but old car and NCB etc is in Mrs CnR's name.

Will that matter when we transfer the insurance onto bee vehicle?

It's awesome if they fix it; yes.

Their record on fixing things is good so I'm hopeful.

It's only malfunctioned once before - that time i got a ride in two halves.

This time was actually worse cos it looked like it was recording my ride, but it didn't create a fit file for 130km of it.

Were the 25i badged cars still 6 cylinder for that model year?

A big part of me really liked the idea of buying an old(ish) 5 series touring, but because life's already too complicated, I ended up going for new car.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with that one.

Today my Elemnt crashed during a ride. It restarted itself, said "retrieving ride" for a while and then we carried on as normal, showing stats from the beginning of the ride, continuing to record, so all seemed fine.

Got home and ended the ride after 150k, and got the message "crashes detected, upload y/n?" So select yes and discover that only the first 20k is there. Also tried uploading the file over usb direct to Strava and same outcome.

The Elemnt unit shows the whole ride distance, time etc but does not seem to have created a fit file with this info.

I also notice when plugged the unit into PC that the storage space is almost full. Could this be the reason? Are you supposed to clear out old rides manually?

Test drove the 220 bhp dsg Superb today. Nice car, overall.

Interior is on the functional side but it's comfortable and rapid enough for a big family car. Was quite impressed with the body control, much better than the Passat.

I've ordered one.

Boring car question: after lots of procrastination and "tinternet research", I think i am ready to replace my current car (2009 Passat saloon, 140ps diesel)

Main requirements for new car: large, comfortable estate, preferably petrol.

Ideal would be bm 530i, much too expensive new and not many 2 year old examples in budget. seems that 98% of all 5 series are now 520d.

so i'm liking the idea of skoda superb tsi 220 dsg.

anyone have any thoughts on that engine or gearbox? i have no clue how dsg is to drive.

I would recommend the Elemnt over a Garmin Edge, especially if navigation is the main priority.

I've not used an etrex so can't comment, but they seem to have a reasonable rep.

I was so happy that I hardly even noticed the Izumi chain noise which accompanied me.

Those type vent through the front door when you have the fire going. Then you rake out the fire, put the food in, plug up the door and the latent heat cooks the food.

I didn't think that would work either, but apparently it does!
