The only issue is difficult to find good road shoes in SPD fitment. So I briefly tried Time RXS - they were awful. Now using SPD-SL - so far so good.

Open Pros divide opinion; I've had a set on my road bike for 3 years and they've been absolutely fine.

I've got a set of black Mavic A719 on another bike with silver XT hubs and silver spokes which i think looks fine.

Sure, you can build a house quite cheaply.

Mine is insured for something just under £300k. 3 storey victorian town house, semi detached. That's a lot different to the market value.

I am now strangely preoccupied with deciding on which tyres I'd like for this bike.

I will be fitting mudguards. Planning on 700c wheels. So 30c max tyres. Not that many tyres actually come in 30c - mostly 28 or 32.

Not sure what difference the land makes to rebuild value?

Could be I'm missing something, but I thought the rebuild value is what it would cost to rebuild your house on the land where it is currently situated.

Puncture a week is non starter for me. Parts drawer / keep for cheapskate mates are both sound options though.

Welsh Dragon yesterday - longest ride to date and most hills climbed. Quite pleased to get round in reasonable shape; wind was interesting at times. I was glad I wasn't on deep crabons.

Good to see a real mix of riders out there, all seemingly having a good time. Pies and potatoes at the food stations were most welcome.

Is it excessively wasteful to bin a pair of tyres after a season? Got a puncture yesterday and on inspection, find that the tyre is cut through, although a relatively small cut.

So I've put on a pair of nearly new Conti GP4k which will be ok for the summer, and now I have a pair of semi worn Michelin Pr04 endurance with a small hole and various cuts n scratches. I could patch up the hole and they'd be good for more miles, I guess... or could get rid of them.

What do others do?
