I'm not having a great time installing a GRX822 rear derailleur.
Using an 11-51t 11speed cassette and following a YouTube hack, that assures me that the 12speed rear derailleur will play nicely with 11speed shifters, I'm not getting good shifting performance.

I cannot find an installation manual for this derailleur anywhere and am having trouble setting the b-screw position to place the cage at the correct height relative to the cassette. Does it fit with a standard chain, or do you need an extra long chain? It's currently sitting a bit low. It'll shift to the 51t sprocket, but is quite reluctant to shift to the 11t.

I'm using a Deore XT chain, 36t chainring 11-51t cassette, so was expecting the chain length to be correct.

Any tips would be welcome.

If you have one already, or the parts, I say go for it.
If not, just buy a ready to go basher from ModelSport or the like, it'll cost about the same amount.
For some reason YouTube keeps recommending Mardave set up videos and builds and I can't help laughing at how cheap the spares are.

I used to race Mardave Minis back in the day, they're huge fun, but they only have about 2mm ground clearance, so you can't even run them on a car park.
However, you can take a 1/10 slick/semi-slick tyre and glue it to the wheel with contact cement and then flip the front beam axle, so that you have similar ground clearance front and rear, cut away the rear body shell to clearance the rear tyre and you get an absolute pavement rocket! I had a lot of fun with mine modified like that.

Reminds me of when you play up in the supermarket and your mum just grabs you by the scruff of your neck and drags you off.

The bodywork is a mix of balsa, duct tape, beer cans and take away containers. It's every bit as shonky as it looks.

I was a lot more careful with my lexan body.
These shells feel much more robust than the original Tamiya bodies. I'm guessing that they're ABS rather than polystyrene.

Working on a Sandscorcher body for the CC02.

My TT02 really build will wait until spring. My nephew is visiting in the summer, so having 2 cars to hoon around would be optimal.

I've just had a Sand Scorcher shell delivered for the CC02. Unfortunately I have no idea what colour to paint it. Definitely not box art.

Mardave and Kamtec minis are traditionally the cheapest racing classes.

I used to do that when I was writing my PhD thesis.
Some things sort of made sense, others were just wild. I've probably got some of the recordings somewhere as I used to use a micro cassette recorder.

I used to race in Southend. The club still exists, haven't been home in years. I still have my Hotshot.

How about the Olympic park?
Mind you Crystal Palace isn't far from me.

Neither of the cars I'm building are bashers, so a skate park is out, but if we can find somewhere with a lot of fine gravel, that might be fun. Merton Abbey Mills springs to mind, but not so accessible for public transport.

It's pretty wobbly, but yes, done with a fine point Staedtler permanent fibre pen marker. I tried a really thin line marker, but it really didn't work.

Finally pulled my finger out and finished all the bodywork.
I did the lights a while back, but hasn't finished the panel lines and added the various mirrors and lights.

Fitting e clips inside a large clear plastic bag is a trick I learnt for particularly tricky assemblies.
It doesn't help at all until the clip springs off, then it's fantastic!

I figure we should have a nerdy meet up somewhere for a bit of driving action.

The kit comes with a nice scale roof rack, a lighting kit, loads of stickers, that gave me a real nostalgia hit when I opened the packet, and extra detailing like wing mirrors and wing lights which I've not yet installed.
