Are you planning on running a consistent deficit? 1k cals seems high but guessing thats bc of the cycling?
No definitely not - I'd be too grumpy. Probably 300-400 deficit is more realistic/sustainable. I'm not looking to turn things around in a short time frame necessarily.
Your example just shows that a little blowout is healthy - you feel like you've had a treat and you are back to good habits almost immediately. Niceeeee

Combination of holiday, covid, back injury and achilles tendonitis all in the space of 2 months has meant I've put on 4kg over that time.
Not the end of the world but the hard work between Jan-June has all been undone.
50k on my bike yesterday and 1000kcal deficit yesterday, which I'm feeling today but I'll settle into a routine with a healthy regular deficit.
Yoga and core workout this morning.
Bike again tomorrow.
Back to it...! -

I think the art meets sport thing is often problematic. I've worked with parkour athletes in the past who are disgusted by the idea of parkour/freerunning/ADD being mentioned under the banner of sport. They had no interest in 'formalising' the activity because part of the beauty of it in their eyes was the underground-ness of it, which is why the NGB was slow to form and struggled to secure significant investment from Sport England.
I would assume break dancing falls into a similar bucket (hat) and explains why the quality of competitions was fairly low - a chunk of the community wouldn't be seen dead at the Olympics. -

My partner is a contractor (outside IR35).
She's pregnant. She won't be eligible for/accessing any maternity benefits, as I understand it.
Am I (as a full-time, PAYE employee), entitled to the parental leave that she won't be accessing? i.e. could I take 9months parental leave, for example?
I've looked online and it seems a bit unclear.
I know the obvious answer is to ask HR, but I'd like to be a bit forarmed beforehand.

By no means up to the standard of (frankly anyone else in) this thread but I got this little bbq for £3 in a sale.
I’ve had three little bbqs in the last week and a half (cooking for 2-4people) and I am loving the simplicity of having less space than I’m used to.
Yesterday was
Cumberland sausage
Korean style gochujang chicken
Sweet peppers
Bulgar wheat
Basic salad with nice tomatoes and a mint and coriander dressingJust wanted to add something at the more basic end of the spectrum for balance and to say that even on a little bbq with no lid(!), I’m having a lovely little time
