I ride fixed with front brake only. Front brake cable snapped near the end of my 10km morning commute today. Bought replacement cable but needed to get bike home to fix with tools...
So, rode home brakless tonight. Gotta say, it scared the shit outta me, even with my herculean legs. Had to ride at about 20kmh all the way home, about a quarter of my usual speed. Has made me think twice about putting the rear brake on too.
csb etc...

Right, might be able to make my first beers appearance tonight, you lucky lucky forumgers!
Just to be sure, it's at the Approach, this place right? Is there a decent place to lock the bike up nearby?
Should be there from about 8:30

Hi all, been lurking around the forums for a while so thought I better join up and introduce myself. Been riding for a few years but only just recently made the switch to fixed. Am currently putting away about 70 miles a week on this below, not the greatest frame I admit, but is in good condition and is a nice fit for me (and was dirt cheap). Figured I'd build up bit of confidence on this then change the parts over to a nicer frame when cashflow allows.
Anyway if you see me around say hi - can't DAS for you yet but I'll get there :) & I'll have to make it down to east beers one wednesday as its stupid close to me.

Just came across this stronglight chainset at half price. Thinking of using for my first build.
Oh, first post here btw.

melovelo - you has mail.
ffm - sorry, I'm not sure on the lever cable reach. I would guess looking at them to be suitable for canti brakes.
