I crashed and smashed the right brake lever of an 8-speed Chorus group. Anything that could be transplanted would be great.
Had a look at Campagnolo Service Centre but they're closed for holidays, apparently.

Yeah good point. I never even thought about that. There is a photo of quill mounted one on their website but now that I look a bit closer it says a head only.

I am selling these Copenhagen bike porter bars. I bought them a year ago at Brick Lane Bikes. This was the last of the first run of these bars and are stamped with the number 102201.
I had them for about 10 months on my fixed gear which was stolen a couple of months ago. Luckily I'd just put the stock bars back on a week before the bike was nicked. I was going to sell that bike and then put these onto a new build, but then my bike got nicked, times are tough, I'm not getting a new build now, and I really need the cash.
I really like these bars. If you need to carry large stuff or heavy bags they are brilliant. Shopping is made easier etc. You can probably imagine all sorts of funny things to put in here. Wouldn't try putting any people in though. 25kg maximum, apparently.
As you can see they are a stylish black, there is one ding in the basket as pictured but otherwise they are in excellent condition.
I am selling them as pictured, with a Goldfinger brake lever, cable and cable sheath still attached. I'm also including the On-One a-head stem that I bought specifically for these - the clamp size of the bars is 254mm, which is smaller than the average road bike clamp so I'm not keeping it. If you want to mount with a quill instead knock a fiver off the price.
All this can be yours for:
£120I will make a donation.

this is such a steal at £299. colombo has aelle tubing, and the frames were built by Ciocc in italy. if it had ciocc decals, the frame alone would cost more. someone should grab themselves a sexy bargain.
panties aside (!), anyone prepared to spunk big dollar on a pink and black rapha kit should at least get a decent bike to match.

Simple answer that you are looking for: You will end up going faster, both on average and in absolute terms, with a geared bike. I was asking myself this same question a while ago as I love my fixed gear bike, but I am glad I went for it. At first you'll not feel anything different but then your training and habits will change in many ways, making you much faster if you want to be, for example:
On the flats with gears, you will probably initially prefer to find the ratio that matches what you are used to. You'll have the same average speed. But with the gears, you can start to shift to progressively higher gears while working on maintaining your cadence. After a couple of months your comfortable spinning gear will increase. You will feel stronger, your thighs will probably look bigger, and you will be faster.
For climbs, you are probably used to getting up and powering up hills. This is generally a faster way to climb short distances, but only as long as you can maintain the cadence against the higher resistance. With gears, you can practice shift to a lower gear and maintaining your comfortable cadence. Spinning too much is a waste of energy and you can burn out. The trick is to find the gear that allows you to keep your cadence, appl comfortable force into the pedals, stay sitting in the saddle, and ultimately maintaining a good pace. You'll still have the option of powering up in a high gear when you feel it's right, eg, towards the finish line.
For descending, you can select a very high gear and use it to accelerate much faster down straights and out of corners. Coming down a big big climb with a 53/12, for example, there is no limit to how fast you can push it. The only thing to worry about is keeping your head down and holding the fucker upright.

i suppose the problem is that some people will see this thread and rely on it for spotting full bikes, and then one day someone will sell a bike without posting it in this thread, and the people relying only on this thread will get sad about it.
or someone will post a new thread for their bike and then cross post it here, and someone will dibs it in their thread and someone else will dibs it here at the same time, and then there will be a dispute as to the superior dibs, and there will be a great wailing and nashing of teeth. and that would be sad.

it is amazing that this hasn't sold at that price. i have a very similar spec concorde squadra and it is my favourite bike (bought it from simpleNX last year). this one is a steal.
i love early 90s steel road bikes, they are light and fast and comfortable, and they remind me of watching le tour as a child on summer holidays in rain-sodden campsites in normandy. you'll get a lot for it on ebay anyway.

Sour Grapes - the Reason we are so good in the drome is that their is no room for sentiment, just clinical analysis and planning.
Its the nature of sport at the top, for every success there are those who miss out, thats part and parcel of the game.
I think its pretty bad form on her part, you dont see any of the rowers who missed out on seats in winning boats moaning, and they are in near identical situations whereby the team is chopped and changed until the winning formula is hit upon
^yes
and the norn irish card thing actually makes me cringe, it is completely irrelevant.

speaking rationally, it seems that the calculation was that any illness jo roswell had was mild enough that it would be a greater risk to change the line up than to have jo ride.
speaking as a norn irishman, however, it is clearly another example of the mentality of imperialist brits who are happy to exploit the labours of our wee country (eg Titanic, DeLorean, Rory McElroy) when it is in their nefarious interests to do so, only to give us nothing but the blame when it is time to pay out.

thanks for the advice, I hadn't even considered that. according to sheldon b it would mean moving everything onto a new rear hub as a 9/10 cassettes won't fit well on an 8. Might try the Avanti and start saving for a full switch down the road.
