Looking at this route, Battersea Bridge is about the mid point. 17km in to a 35km ride.

I'm very interested in this as I want to get back into riding and general LFGSS-ness after an injury and a few years off.

I'm in Oxfordshire so will have to work out how to get myself and my bike to the area.

Some interesting reading on this thread. I'm one of those people who never really knew what they wanted to do but after a lot of job swithching I now have a list of things I don't want to do!

I left school at 16 with ok GCSEs, did a bit of retail and various warehousing/light industrial jobs, tried setting myself up in a trade but didn't stick with it. I'm now in my early 40s and have been assembling mechanical parts for almost 8 years and I'm fed up with it, bored of the work, frustrated at the lack of discipline/professionalism of my colleagues and the company which affects my work environment, and starting to think I don't want to be here much longer. I want to work/exist in a better environment with colleagues who are on a similar wavelength and hopefully get more satisfaction (and money would be nice) out of what I do.

I've inherited some money which I could use to start doing something but I don't know what to do or where to start. I've spent most of my working life quitting one job to go to another, only to find out the grass isn't greener. This time whatever move I make I want to be a positive one. Any advice, suggestions etc appreciated.

I'd potentailly be up for another bridges ride, one was the first forum ride I ever went on.

Agree with the buy cheap, buy twice, and with re-using. I was just wondering if there was a particular brand that was known for being decent and no frills at an ok price, as happens occasionally.
The stuff on the Alpkit and Planet X websites look pretty good .

Overnight gear for bothy stays, so sleeping bag, inflatable sleeping mat, small one person tent plus cooking/hygeine gear etc. I've already tried slimming my kit down for a lighter backpack when walking, my only issue might be that I use a synthetic sleeping bag so it might be bigger than some people's choices.

I'm hoping I could have the sleeping bag on my bars and most other stuff in a big seat pack plus a frame bag.

Apologies for the noob question but are there any particular budget brands or sets of bikepacking luggage that are worth looking into? Thanks

Gaslands is fun, one of those games that is quite chaotic so it's best not to take it seriously. The spin & slide results mean the whole game reminds me of driving on ice or mud and there's a lot of losing control and crashing into others that goes with the deliberate ramming/shooting.

The miniatures rules aren't "what you see is what you get" either and while there are official accesory packs you can use you can also just get hold of some matchbox/hot wheels size cars and raid your spares box for weapons, armour and bumpers to stick on them.

You may notice in these pics that my bike has no gear cables attached. That's because I did these tags on the way to The Broken Spoke to use their workshop only to find they were closed today :(

This is very cool! Yeah sadly more expensive than bodging some kind of rack on the old BMX we have in the warehouse but much more rideable.

Long shot but does anyone have a single bolt fitting BMX brake caliper lying around? It's only for a beater bike we found at work so condition isn't important. Thanks.
