The chainline on my Orbit Pista's never been perfect (since I got it anyway) so I've run it on an 8 speed chain which has been just about OK. Thing is, I got knocked off a few months ago and it's worse - not terrible but a PITA. I've been living with it for a while and it's really been pissing me off.
Am assuming the frame (or possibly the chainring but unlikely) got bent when I got hit. Any suggestions about how to fix it? Spacers on the hub? Try to bend the chain/seatstays backinto shape? Cold set? Is there anyone about town who does frame aligments? I love the frame and it's in really good shape apart from this but I'm thinking it's not worth spending a packet on...
Cheers in advance for any advice. Mullet.

It's in the title. Will pay cash, beer, whatever. Also could trade: I often have random bits and pieces of bike floating around (tend to be tat but sometimes something decent) as well as a mass of assorted other stuff (PCs, screens, furniture etc) so if there's something you are after let me know and I can fish about and see if I've got it.

I'm home most of tonight. By Clapham Common. If any of you want it best thing is to drop me an email and I'll send you my number. I'm on *********
Was down at Brixton Bikes today and had a chat with one of the fellows who knows all about these frames. He reckoned that welding it would not work.
mcbateso, that address didn't work.
As far as claiming it, the first person to collect can have it. Only take it if you want it for yourself though, grabbing it ahead of someone else so you can turn a quid on it would be weak. If you fix the crack I hope you'd do the same as I'm doing and pass it on free if you ever get rid of it.

The bike's not the one in the picture, it's black and not built up. And it doesn't have any chrome - it's fully aluminium.
TIG is a possibility but I think the heat would damage the glue that holds the frame together. It's a really oddball bike - there's no welding, the lugs and tubing are glued together. Repairing the crack is going to take time and money that I haven't got and I reckon the end result will likely be a nasty ride on the pain train. And I hate the pain train...
Which brings me back to my original question: who wants it? PM me. First to collect gets it.

Forks look 100% - they are a pretty cool design too IMO.
I can't see any way of fixing the crack - it probably wouldn't make the whole frame break as it's in one of the arms on the seat binder so not essential to the integrity - but you're going to struggle to stop the seat post moving. Frankly though, would you ride a 20 year old bike that was held together with glue?
BTW The bike in the picture isn't my frame, that's just a pic I scarfed off the net.

--- No longer available, given to Rik. Hope you get on well with it man.
This is a piece of bike history that deserves a spot on my wall. Sadly 'she' disagrees. Free to anyone who wants it.
Pretty high risk to ride as of the cast aluminium lugs has a crack (and they aren't exactly easy to replace...), I'm only giving it away as a piece of decorative memorabilia.
It's in SW11, if you want it come and get it. I can take it to Vauxhall where I work if that's easier.
Looks like this without the decals and components but the anodised bits are black and the seat post is adjustable.

If no one wants it it's going to be flogged for scrap metal. And that would be sad.
The frame's gone to Rik. They looked as if they'll be very happy together.
:)
