hippy I don't notice any difference. They slower at speed due to more spoke = more air resistance.
Sheldon reckons 36H is the way to go but 32H will get you more choice of hubs and rims these days.
How heavy are you and how smooth do you ride? I've had next to no trouble (save from some crashing) with 32H wheels built well.I weigh in on 75kg, and i don't ride very smooth. I've had too many bmx's and mountainbikes to avoid all potholes etc

Richard Cheese Miche Primato Hubs 32H £45
Not a superduper bargain, but not bad; I'd buy them if they were 36H. (So if any of you have some 36h's knocking about...)on that note, is 36 hole hubs deffo better than 32 for general riding? Course they would hold up better, but is it a big difference?

scott gon be broke Hey people...i'm in need of more supplies so i need to sell some bikes.
If anyone is interested in this one for £350 let me know...don't know the frames history...but the wheels are hardly used cxp33 to system x...brooks is pretty new...nittos pretty new....it's a 56 and i have the original track forks that came with it (although they're blue)but had too much toe overlap for my clown feet.
fankoo...:)

Would you consider selling the wheels? and pedals (if they fit campagnolo cranks?)

hippy If you're leaving it for a long time locked up get boring old unpainted/ano'd rims, like Open Pros mentioned above.
Plain CXP33s are fairly non-descript and a little deeper if that floats your boat.
Any black saddle that doesn't hurt your bum is good.plain cxp33's should look nice i think, anyone know where to get em cheap? Been looking briefly and seems to cost roughly as much as deep v's, and it would kinda hurt to get less nice rims for same money

Allrighty, so now i got me a frame, and Paul (freshtripe) will sort me with most parts set from wheels. My initial plan was to get white deep v´s, white orys and a white saddle (oh man, trendy!) but the more i think of it, the more i realize the bike will shine when i park and draw thieves like flies to a turd. So maybe I should get some less shiny wheels and a less shiny saddle (still white, just a bit tatty)... So, any thought´s on this? What wheels would make a good buy part from deep v´s? Sorry if it´s a retarded/vague question, I´m quite new to (and excited about) the whole let´s-buy-loads-of-bike-bits-and-put-them-together-thing

and yes I would be. Really like the paint job and the chrome, and fuckit, riding fixie is all about looking kool anyway isnt it?
thanks for your help all, gimme a while to source parts and I´ll see you on the streets

Hello all,
Need some advice on a frame. Looking to build up my first fixie, so need a good frame to start with that won't cost me fuckloads.
Found this on the bay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=310012303742&_trksid=p3984.cWAT.m240.lVI
Think it would make a good build? Is it worth the money etc?
Think it'll need a new BB, anyone know if it's hard to find / super expensive for this frame? On that note, does anyone happen to know if it's french or english thread?
It's mr Freshtripe that sells it, he seems to know what he's doing so just want double check with you lot before I dosh up. Oh, hope you don't mind this freshtripe :)
thanks in advance ya'll

I use a shimano 105 caliper and a diaTech goldfinger, brake at the front. I´m riding single speed so thats all the braking i can do, but works really good. Better than I expected to be honest. Also, the goldfinger is a one finger lever, but i tend to use my long finger that gives me a bit more power

I´m having a problem with my seat post, I think it´s a wee bit too small and therefor always dropping, bout a mm a day or so. Not much but very annoying.
Tried today to make a home made shim out of a beer can and it worked a treat (I think, haven´t taken it for a ride yet), but then it struck me: Do you think the aluminium can will team up with the steel frame and get the post terribly stuck? Don´t want to get a stuck seat post, but I quite like the idea of riding around with a bit of beer can in my bike
