yeah you are right it does look like a Coaster Brake on that Cafe Creme Racer / and the spec says: Hub rear: Shimano Nexus SG-3R40 3-speed hub which my quick googleing suggests is aa 'Roller Brake' variety hub.

And on the Globe: I looked at one in London Fields Cycles and the geometery was just a little too slack for me. the bars being quite 'swept back'. could probably get a better riding position if you swapped them out for something else though i suppose.

yeah thats the globe. they have them at London Fields Cycles. but they look bulky and unwieldy.

I've seen the Globe ones. they look to 'cruiser' to me. fat tyres. thick frames tubing and really really relaxed posture.

not so into those.

I think weight is a bit of a factor for me, as although I intended to carry stuff around on the bike a lot of the time I can imagine it won't be loaded up with 50kgs of stuff.

maybe some veges and a 6 pack of beer ;) and you are right dealing with all the old stuff can be a pain. Cottered Cranks, old steel rims, finding replacement parts..

well I would prefer something older in some respects but they are proving rather difficult to find. where exactly might one find one? Paris flea markets?

£15 is cheap I got a quote from someowhere in lincolnshire for £30 to fix it+ £10 to repaint that section. but the problem would be gettgin the frame all teh way to Lincolnshire! which is going to cost loads.

I am in need of a frame actually - as Mine is craked at the seat stays.

Hey where can i get some Riser Bars for a 25.4 mm Quil Stem & that will take some of those Cane creek Cross top levers for a Road Biike?

all the Risers seem to be "mountain Bike' risers and the bars are to thin out where the brake levers go?

what is everyone else using? a shim or can you get bars like that?

I wanted to head down to Bricklane last weekend but was out of town.

Its quite dirty from riding around in the mud and the brake pads need replacing. Otherwise its pretty stock. Oh and the pedals where changed to aluminium pedal with black plastic toe-clips. But its not very 'unusual' except the saddle.

Its my 'business bike'...

Someone just now (an hour or two ago) kicked in the common door to our flats and ran off wit it. I stupidly had just left it sitting there against the wall.

yes the Tesco's is Ok. it has a better variety than everywhere esle. (The Sainsbury's on Kingsland has shit selection though)

• the Kingsland Rd one (just down from Dalston intersection) has a somewhat wider range of beeers than most. I was in there th eother day - its ok.

• The Dove - yes I'm aware that the Dove has a larger than usual range of lagers and Ales 'on Tap' but I was specifically asking about Off-Licenses...

something a bit closer to Hackney Central would be nice though
