Bottom bracket is fine, brake pads aren't rubbing against the rim, front wheel is spinning well, chain tension is fine.
Could it be that water has got into the hub and rusted? I have been using it in the snow/slush recently.
I'm reluctant to try taking the hub apart as I won't know what I'm doing and I hear they spring open like one of those prank jars with compressed snakes in them! Anyone know any shops, preferably towards East London/Essex, who are adept at hub gears?

Hi, didn't want to start a new thread so posting here.
I have a Shimano Nexus 7-Speed Hub on my folding bike and the gears appear to go stiff, as if I were cycling through treacle. The yellow dots on the hub are correctly aligned. The stiffness appears to be random i.e. sometimes on shifting up, sometimes while still in gear.
The bike is only 2 years old, approximate mileage = 2000 miles.
Any ideas on what's wrong and how/where to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've done Tae Kwon Do, and while I've really enjoyed the sporting aspect of it, I wouldn't say it was particularly practical as a form of self defence until you've had several years experience. I would recommend Muay Thai if you wanted a more practical striking martial art and Brazilian Ju Jitsu for ground work.
Remember that martial arts aren't all about self defence; you'll have to learn forms and patterns, competition sparring etc. If it's just self defence you want, you may be better off with a designated self defence course?

Hello, bit late, but just cycled with my cousin from Brentwood (Essex) to central london for the fireworks and then back again.
Alot of cars between Elephant and Castle roundabout and London Bridge, but was easy to circumvent with a bike.
Quite a few people driving on mobiles on the way back, but was alright - no obvious drink driving.
The only annoying thing was wasted people shouting abuse at us, but hailing from Essex, we were used to that. Loadsa smashed glass on the roads though.
