I bought my girlfriend an electra beach cruiser a few months ago for her birthday, she has now got into cycling but needs something a bit easier to use around the city. She is looking to try riding fixed and and wanted me to convert something for her. A major thing is she wanted a bike that didnt have the sloping top tube like most ladies bikes, she is only about 5"1" or so and we thought it would be a prob finding a suitable bike. Long story short we called into the little bike workshop on the end of our street and found this. Got it for £20 and it is in perfect working order. I'm going to convert it to single speed tomorrow until i work out how to sort out a 24" fixed rear wheel :). I will be keeping the parts to return it to geared should the need arise. Pics of conversion tomorrow.

okay. no hard feelings anywhere.
i've been running around trying to see and do thing. i got a mountain bike (:p), but it's better than nothing. i'm in belfast now and trying to get to causeways, but i'll be back in dublin saturday around 8pm.
i want to do a ride with you guys, maybe sunday???
if someone sets up the ride, i will be there.
i actually got a gig playing tunes at Shebeen Chic on Saturday night, so if you guys want to stop by and meet a sulky foreigner who shamelessly plugs social events to meet potentially cool folks, then please stop by. i'd love to meet you all!!!my name is Annie.
stevie, i got your number. thanks!
if you are looking to go for a spin in belfast, pm me or something. I'm usually around the city most of the time.

If you're gonna scrap the bb and cranks, an angle grinder will go through the axle like butter
thats what i did, tried getting the pins out but then thought i'm not goin to keep any of this so i got the angle grinder out. it was fun, but working on a bike with an angle grinder felt a bit strange..lol finished pics are on the last page. i quoted an old post about the cottered cranks to use as the b4 pic.

i plan on putting the racks back on but the chrome on them is really rusty, so i'm going to clean them up first. the chain guard is really bent so i am goin to try to bend it back into shape without messing up the paint then put that back on too.
rack:
i'm also tryin to polish up the little raleigh bell :)

the office i work in is beside a recycling depo, the guys that work in the recycling place took this out of a skip and left it in front of our office as a joke. so i took it home to clean it up :)
ended up like this after a couple of hours work this morning. i still need a chain and pedals with cages.

I thought I would put on my budget peugeot build. Frame found in a ditch. Only about £100 spent on it so far. New orange cloth bar tape is on its way and I am on the look out for new pedals, but I am super skint! Yeah, the photo was taken before chain adjustments!

really like this, i have a similar build on the go at the min. (also pretty skint) i have spent about £40 and still need pedals, chain and a rear wheel. hoping to bring it in around £100 :)

cheers, she loves it and i think it looks cool. Its tiny but looks like an adults bike :). Do you know of any where i can buy a fixed rear wheel to fit? (the ones on it are 24", but there is quite a bit of clearance once the mudgueards are off.) googled and done a few searches but not found anything. scratch that just spotted the bottom line of your post lol.
