Awesome. That makes a lot of sense and is what I've been reading, I just couldn't make heads or tails of how far the other were / if it's worth trying to get to the rest of it. Thanks!

Yes, please do! The coffee in Italy/bing able to cross borders by skis thing is pretty much what sold Montgenevre to me. Can't wait.

Just booked a last minute ski trip to Montgenevre with my mum, leaving in 3 weeks!

We're taking the train to Oulx (changing in Paris) on Friday 6, and back again the following Friday. Booked too late to get the sleeper to Briancon, but I think I prefer daytime journeys anyway..

Whose been to Montgenevre before? My mum is an experienced skiier, but hasn't been in about 10 years and is a little anxious about me dragging her up and down the mountains for 6 days.. Was thinking of booking a lesson for her to focus on technique – any tips for ski schools? I've had 1-2-1s with an instructor via Evo2 in Tignes who was absolutely brilliant, but I've also had terrible instructors before, so would like a recco..

Also, I'm a little confused about the lift pass. Is there one that covers all areas of the Milky Way? Thanks

I think a bit of both - coast with lots of small towns and pasty shops would be nice, but also open to moors if I can tie the two together. Hilly roads and some easy trails with nothing too gnarly / not too much hike-a-bike. Will be on my gravel bike with (hopefully) not too much weight.

Yup, expecting it to be busy. I think between 80-100km will do me per day. Though given how undulating the roads will be, maybe closer to 80km.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been to Bude before but not to the coast north of it, so could make a nice route from Bideford down the coast or something. Definitely tempted by doing some of the Tarka Trail too - forgotten it existed - will think of how to link it all together. Will probably bivvy rather than tent, so should be easier to find some discreet spots.

I'm going to a wedding in Treyarnon Bay (near Padstow) in July, and will have 2 / 2.5 days free before it to do a mini cycle trip in Cornwall. I'd like something coastal and not on busy roads, with spots to wild camp along the way for the two nights. It'll have to start at a train station that's accessible from London, so probably a stop along the line to Penzance.

    Any recommendations? Thanks!

Partner and I were running through the woods by the Lea on Hackney Marshes yesterday when we heard an almighty cracking, and an enormous solid tree crashed down across the path about 4m in front of us. There was a couple and baby who were incredibly close too. It was bloody terrifying. We all just stood there shouting oh my god before thinking that we should probably get out of the woods pronto.

It was such a strong, solid and rooted tree – snapped clean in half by the wind. Wild. Stay safe out there, folks!
