CSB. My old man drove bulldozers, before which he’d been a diver in the navy. He combined the two working the gravel pits which now comprise Cotswolds water park. I have indelible memory of being completely freaked out riding shotgun on a D7 driven across a lake with water sloshing over the top of the tracks as a nipper. Happy days.

Funny how many historic properties within pissing distance of the big LFB station just down the road go up in flames. Maybe the Old Fire Station on the green should've stayed open.

That is such a good description of conditions on trails today. Great fun and muck free until I hit a rut as you described, smashed through ice to be sprayed with liquid mud from waist to toe in about a tenth of a second.

Got you. I remember being peeved at the time by how over-rated I felt Carol was, but agree it nails a Christmas aesthetic and is beautifully, gorgeously shot. Merry Christmas viewing!
I saw that at Leicester Square so long ago. The opening sequence with the slow mo and super saturated colour was spellbinding. Unfortunately I subsequently bought the shonky (but legit) DVD with the notoriously terrible transfer which was awful. Ruined film for me until the blu-ray was released. Damn fine cinematic experience though.
