The comments and reaction are pretty shocking - and somewhat seem to support h2o's argument (as I've understood it) in that people are getting polarised in their view of the protest, if not missing the point entirely.

Three different cabs did strange semi stops despite clear roads... three times I assumed it was a punishment brake to fuck with me. Three times my bias was proven wrong by rogue texting or whatever it is cabbies use smart phones for.

+1 for reading the camera thread once I've saved a few pennies.

I agree - after some optimistic (at best) routing on Saturday we established that my mates brand new Bianchi aero wotsit with discs is definitely gravel / single track capable.

As an aside, 'touring mode' on Komoot is a lot of fun.

I had what I can assume is a similar situation with, of all things, my wedding photographs - while the price point is way off, I suspect the frustrations are similar-ish and can only sympathise.

This doesn't help at all of course, but if you're ever in London, I'd like to buy you a beer and offer a mutual rant on artisanal projects (and hopefully, how nice it is to own a proper steel bike)...

Shoes not going ultra rank: some shoes (some Giro, the new rapha ones) don't have absorbent padded lining, much more like a proper leather shoe.

Found they dry really well and aren't dreadful on the nose because they aren't like sponges...

So apparently my issue of the rubbing disc was a pitted cone nut - I don’t understand the physics but the outcome is spot on.

Thanks for the recommendations folks - especially @Turkish - currently at LBS, who were equally as perplexed at first glance...

That's a good shout, will investigate when I get home.

Will have to read the lbs thread next.

Everything was all hunky dory for 6 months after swapping callipers… now what?

Started as a slight rub of the disc on drive side down stroke, I ignored it. Then it got a bit worse.
Assumed I’d bent the disc, but first inspection cleared that notion. I did noticed the cone nuts had loosened a bit - so removed, tightened, headed back out - problem was much much worse.

Had a proper look last night trying to reposition brake, then noticed wear on the calliper itself where the disc was catching. Fiddled with the bold holding the adapted idly while mulling options and the bolt caught on the disc. Took Brake out and voila - disc is actually catching on the mount.

No crashes, no cracks in the frame that I can see through the paint… what on earth has happened here? And… what next? I’m well out of ideas and we are heading towards mud guard season!

Steel Frame, IS to Post Mount adapter, DT Swiss 6 bolt adapter on centre lock shimano CX75 hubs.
