But does every derny race have to go exactly to that script? And yes I WAS entertained, but part of me thinks that it’s unnecessary nowadays. It’s a bit like Madam Tussaud’s - created in a world where people didn’t know what famous people looked like. Inexplicable why it exists now. Pretend bike races? Yes fine when people couldn’t watch their heroes on TV in real competition, but still needed today? Is Cav really back on form? I’ve no idea from watching the 6 Days.

Was watching the Japanese Tour de France Crit from the weekend. A Japanese rider won, just holding off the TdF winner and the Vuelta winner in their respective jerseys. Also at the weekend we saw Mark Cavendish come from miles back to somehow win the Derney race in the London 6 Days, pipping Viviani on the line.

Apart from professional wrestling, do any other sports have mugs like us who turn up to watch choreographed results like this?

(Not that I didn’t enjoy it).

Bikes and bike bits depreciate quickly - have you looked on eBay (where you can use a credit card)/on here in sale posts for secondhand bits? If your budget is tight you’ll get the best bang for your buck buying used.

Manchester Originals? Oval Invincibles? Who came up with these?

Anyway, on the plus side it is all free and on the telly, so those of us without Sky will be able to watch loads of cricket.

I’m guessing though that for those of us with county membership at one of the host grounds this will not be included?

We bailed half way through. Just back into London, watched the finish on my phone on the train. The women’s race was far more enjoyable. In fact I got sunburnt!

Ha! That would have been me!

They shut Leith Hill? Was busy when I got there but actually better than I had feared.

I got overtaken by Dave Brailsford in full Ineos kit (with his name on) going up Wimbledon Hill in the Ride 100 today.

Also a DAS’d a forum shirt (bearded gentleman) but he was going up a hill and wasn’t up for it.

Edited to say: I was OK with him being a FKW given he runs the team, but thinking about it, Alex Ferguson wouldn’t go round the shops in a Man Utd first team kit I bet.

I foolishly signed up for the mailing list for The Hundred, the new cricket format starting next year. Wasn’t one of the reasons for the 100 ball format that it goes on for less time? Well guess what, to excite us even more they are proud to announce that there will be The Timeout, because American sports are the best.

Keep an eye on Twickets, the no-mark up reseller. They have some Edgbaston tix up there now and I am sure that they had some for the Headingley test earlier today.
