Was your drill bit blunt? Does the sole have kevlar or something in it?

I bet you'll barely be able to feel a flange through insoles and socks. I just google imaged cx studs and it looks like they're placed right at the toe and mid section of the shoe, ie away from not the balls of your feet where the pressure is when running. I also saw some blade designs that look like front teeth and some that looked narrower and cylindrical rather than the conical football stud shape I'm familiar with.

A thermal bridge?! Maybe you could get stainless tee nuts if you're worried about that!

How about using something with a flange and fitting it from inside the shoe so that the flange sits directly underneath the insole. A Tee- nut without the prongs would do the job.

Because p-clips or cable ties are cheaper? Also, if you use the PDW style you have to remove the qr skewer if you want to take the wheel off.

I use Simple bar soap and wash them by hand, a few items at once. I remember reading something about normal laundry detergents potentially damaging waterproof coatings, don't know if that's true.

tee nuts could be an alternative option. I found a sight with listings of 6mm, 8mm, and 12mm depth options.

clever... what are the threaded inserts, how are they fixed in the sole?

Can you get rubber tipped studs so you could use the same idea for walking on streets? I am thinking about what to do when the soles wear out on my spd shoes.

Does anyone know what size range of tyres can be fitted to the Decathlon 700 dynamo wheels? I guess they're quite wide so you need to fit tyres 35mm or larger?

I have a Rockbros 10L saddlebag. Quality was good, it sways a lot though.
