Thanks, I feel better about all my impulsive purchases now! The hubs in particular looked (during my online research at least) to be very well made. I'll be interested to compare it to one of my Scapin bikes with a similar frame, which has a late 90's Veloce groupset on it. My apartment is beginning to look like a team garage, and my girlfriend has developed an intense hatred for the smell of Muc-Off degreaser.

Cheers! I'm not 100% sure on the wheelset though. I like the look of deep profile, silver rims like Vento, Atlanta or Shamals but they are a) overpriced and b) not ideal for 10 speed. I've found some Daytona oversized hubs laced to Mavic Open 4 rims, which I think would work well (designed for this groupset, so in theory perfect). Just not sure about the weight as I've got Campagnolo Nucleons on one Scapin and some 4ZA Cirrus on another, so I'm used to light(ish) wheels. That being said the saddle I've bought probably weighs the same as a toddler so I don't think weight should really be a big sticking point.

I didn't really want to remove the graphics, more to clean up and refurbish the various parts as they've been sitting unused for a long while. Did a complete strip down, degrease and regrease today, all seems to be working very well.

I have, however, now run into a few issues (not problems, issues). The chainrings are missing their bolts (FC-RE001/002); the front derailleur is missing the mounting bolt (FD-VL102); I need some cable stops/adjusters (any); and the rear recessed brake caliper mounting nut is too long.

** all found locally, God bless Subito.it **

Here is a mock-up using some old Ultegra wheels. Found a supplier locally for the bottom bracket, hope to have it (and the headset) by the middle of next week.

Also, when did ratty old 1" quill stems become so expensive?! Couldn't give them away when I was back in the UK.
