  Thanks I'll give this a try - is it normal for a crank/chainring (and not a cheap one at that) to need to be trued up in this way?

  No don't think so as the set up was fine yesterday prior to changing the cranks/chainring and bb.

  Should add that nothing else in the setup has changed EAI cog, dura ace lockring remain and that the previous cranks/chainring/bb (andel/tange) ran perfectly fine with no tight spots.....help

  Just fitted a brand new campag record pista crank/chainring and centaur bb, after fitting/tensioning the chain I noticed that something was wrong and that the chain tension varied when rotating the crank ( from about right to very slack at 180degrespes opposite) I assume the bb is fine so does that mean the chainring isn't round or it's not centred on the crank arms. There doesn't appear much scope to reposition the chainring relative to the arms......
  Anyone else experienced this and how did you sort it out please....
