I mean those as separate flavours - both the lamb kibbeh and the veg kibbeh were excellent.
One of the upsides to metal guards is that you can let them take a little bit of weight from the saddle bag. That looks like plenty of space anyway.

They have probably designed the curvature with the stay mounted on the outside. Mounting it inside may leave insufficient (safe) clearance. Standard issue caveat - 'we didn't design it like that'.
May want to remove your work email (and other things) from that picture there...
