Not sure if this has been posted before https://youtu.be/tE3h4nmDdOo
But this explanation of ‘fitting the bead on the rim’ was revelatory for me. I’m yet to fail to fit a Road/mtb/gravel tyre doing it this way - the occasional leave with a tube over night aside.
Edit - fitting with a Lidl track pump only

Before spending £££ on prescription oakleys I though I would try some aliexpress prescription wear. Some of the places mentioned up thread don’t seem to be active anymore - these were £43 all in. From Kapvoe Official
Overall pretty happy with them - glasses turned up after 10 days and then prescription inserts 5 days later.

This is really good advice that I just assumed would be fine. Turns out they are 25mm rims and recommend up to 2.5inch.
Looks like 2.3 front and rear it is, thanks!

Dredging the specialized tyre chat - is there a good reason why I wouldn’t go for as big as possible (2.6) rear on my hardtail?
I’ve got a purgatory rear and butcher front in my basket - both 2.6. Mainly riding local rocky trails and Forrest of Dean/Cannock. The price compared to other brands is attractive.

We did sort of two ways (see post up thread) this summer gone. The Biesbosch park Dordrecht way was definitely the better riding - which doesn’t help for your hotel problem!
We did do Utrecht to hook via den Haag and the sand dunes in one day on way back to ferry. It was still really nice - but serious head wind around the coastal bit. Can share route if you’re interested.
