Was all ready to reply with standard humbuckers, but then realised my wiring for series/parallel was a bit wrong. I've fixed it now, so can report that they're much louder when in series, less bright and it's almost like the whole frequency response shifts downwards.

The effect seems to be pretty much the same with single coils, so should be similar for firebirds too. Have never used them, so not sure what their characteristics are and whether a bass-wards shift is a good thing.

Backblaze offers cloud storage as well as backups and claims to be 1/4 of the price of Amazon. I use that to back up entire HDDs that I don't plug in often, as well as the normal backup service for the computer.

Laptop's running a bit slow. Anyone got any tips? Maybe the advertised PowerPC upgrade is worth it. Must get in touch with my local Apple service centre to replace the 33MHz Motorola processor.

Lovely. I've just rationalised getting an archtop, probably a Godin. Just need to get shot of an acoustic to make room.

And is it using an XLR-XLR? An XLR-TRS would work for dynamic but not for something requiring phantom.

I have these (but am going to replace soon, in case you're after some cheap spares down the line) and have found them pretty easy to open for cleaning and greasing. Grip this bit with pliers and unscrew. The RH pedal has a LH thread. Mine are a plastic thread, so are easy to over-tighten.

They recently extended the trademark 'Rosetta', so probably some architecture overlap like last time.

I normally recommend Audio Technica AT2020 for cheap condensers. Or if you can find an At3035 second hand, they're a better mic and can be had for not much more these days.

Shure says that the only difference between 57s and 58s is the grille, but others seem to disagree.

Talking of amps, is anyone interested in a Celestion Vintage 30? 8Ω, 60W. About 4 years old, home and studio use only.

Spent some time in the Blackstar cab that Bleakrefs kindly gave me, but wanted something better suited to Fendery cleans so swapped it out. Looking for about £50, will deliver within ridable distance of SE5.
