Thanks man! Few too many logos at the moment, I'll get rid of them but first want to enjoy that 'new bike feeling'...

After lots of mistakes and frustration, the lynskey is finally finished.
Tried to get the rear derailleur cable as trim as possible, but it might need shortening. Shifts fine, bit bulbous looking though.

Trp hy/rd work surprisingly well, especially surprised given how much negative press they get on other forums.

Waiting on a bleed kit, some new grease and a syringe for the pedals, the rotor lock rings, and a garmin mount and it's good to go.

Edit: just seen that the right shifter is about 5mm inboard of the brake lever, whereas the left shifter sits flush.
    Defect or poor setup?

I've explained poorly then. The issue is there's a 4mm gap between the top of the steerer and the top of the spacer.
    Does that make sense?
Edit: the 5mm spacer above the stem*

Got the all clear from lynskey to wack the crown race on, and have made more progress with the bike. Quite nerve-wracking cutting the steerer, have got about 1.5mm of steerer above the step for the 5mm spacer, is that enough or should I redo and go lower?
Two more issues, do I install the chain before getting the dérailleurs cabled up? Or derailleurs first? All of the guides have either a chain on, or cables installed..
Had a bit of a faff with cutting front brake cable, I left the inside cable in when cutting the outer to length... Think I have some spare jagwire inners to make up the difference.

I couldn't get much of a kink in the outer between the fork and the Calliper (see pic), is there supposed to be more cable between the bottom of the fork and the Calliper? Haven't given it a proper fiddle yet as I've got no locking rotors, but there's a fair bit of play in the lever when before the brake engages.

Awesome man! The rim version is much nicer than the ridiculously overpriced disc version that was up at the same time.
    What's the plan for it?

No no, the fatal mistake was that I wrote the title incorrectly - I've edited it now to the correct version. I very much wanted the 853 version!
Yeh, the red wheels and stem were horrible, I knew I was going to have to replace them as soon as I bought the bike, as well as convert it to 1x, but I didn't have the funds at the time.

Converted to 1x because I didn't really need other gears when I was just using it to commute. In retrospect, a 32t chainring might be a bit big for the front and for MTB duties. It came with a 28t rear cassette which will need changing at some point.

Once my road bike is finished I'm going to treat this to new rotors, brake hoses, gear cables, 32t cassette, and chain.

There are tons of RockLobsters on ebay at the moment, a rim brake version just sold for £150.

I don't think you want to see the update pic, bike doesn't look very good. Admittedly better than the first picture with the horrible red wheels
Edit* Unless you mean the update 5 months ago, in which case i'll add pic as an attachment.

How tight was the crown race for you? I've got a similar problem - been advised by a couple of bike shops not to wack the crown race on because the diameter difference is too big...

Back to smooth tires, TT protector and a rack. Looks stupid, rides fine, but I'm back in London now and want it to look ugly as possible. Might put some gaffa tape over the Fox logo as well.

Other than that it's great! I'd be tempted to put some rigid surly forks on it for the above reasons, plus a proper rack for the basket. At the moment I don't want to get it stolen.

I might try and get up to the Surrey Hills before then though...
