    A good practical example is food. We grow 61% of the food we eat, but if you look specifically at fruit and veg, there's a huge deficit in fruit and vegetable production. In 2015, imports of fruits to the UK were valued at £3.1 billion; imports of fresh vegetables (excluding potatoes because they're not vegetables they're a carb) at £2.1 billion.

    55% of our tomatoes come from the EU - a lot from the Netherlands, which despite being tiny is the second largest exporter of food behind only the U.S. (because they've embraced modern high tech farming methods).

    How do we come about those figures? I hope its not from Supermarkets saying "we sold x amount of ORIGIN - UK labeled stock"
    Because you'd never suspect the UK producers to paper over an unforseen supply shortage due to weather with some euro stock to fill in the gaps...

    Oh, I'd much rather the roads were full of cyclists than cars, don't get me wrong. The more the merrier. Was simply stating it was quieter on the CS. Should have followed it with "That's a shame if so"

    Yeah, 5 sets of 3 reps at your working weight, I'd focus on your squat for core strengthening, nice steady controlled speed down and up, perfect form. Doesn't have to be anything mad - a couple of times a week and you'll notice an increase in strength. 5 mins on rower to warm up, then start empty bar (x10 reps) and work up through the plates (x5 reps) to your working weight. If you're squatting around your bodyweight you can be in and out in half hour. Job done.
    Depending on your body and your other training you might see a bit of quad and glute growth after a several months, but certainly not going to be putting on the mass you're worried about.

    If you don't want to put on size steer away from higher hypertrophy reps and just focus on strength. 5x3 or 5x5 will do the job. It'll make you stronger, which is your goal and you're unlikely to put on significant mass unless you up you're eating too. Do a 8-12 week period and see how you feel at the end of it?

    Monday was 6° and I was so warm I stopped halfway to strip off and get my arms out.
    Today was 5° and my fingers and toes were frozen and no possible way I'd consider taking a layer off.
    Stupid temperatures.
