Hi folks, this may be slightly OT. But actually not! I often get propaganda from various sources which is plainly untrue. Obviously a careful, detailed and well thought-out refutation would be the ideal, but often these people just aren't listening! What I would like to do is have a "rubber stamp" to dismiss their garbage. I include my effort... I guess that some of your are invovled in graphics, photoshop etc., and hoped that you might be good enough to come up with something better?

Thanks, Clubman, food for thought there. I might write to Schwalbe and Panaracer just to see what a minimum order would be and what cost. After all if they have the moulds etc, it is surely not a huge deal? If they said eg 1,000 minimum, surely it would be possible to "crowdfund" or "viral marketing" sort of process, where forums, facebook groups, VCC, shops, collectors, enthusiasts, cycle-jumblists worldwide etc etc etc are spammed and encouraged to spread the word, and to get a conditional commitment from say half of that number? A pair each for 250 people in the world, surely?

Hi @jeff80, I am late to this thread, and this excellent project. Just my 2p worth. Chrome was not in short supply due to t'war etc. My 1947 Dawes has fully chromed fork and rear quarter. I have had mine done at Hockley enterprises in Southend on Sea. £70.00 for the whole frame. I had them polish the rear quarter and leave the rest dull as it will be over painted. It is not "concours d'elegance" standard. but it was £70.00 (!)

Hi @The.Gren Thanks for the kind thought. I wrote to Pankhurst. They have nothing in tanwall. Schwalbe (and other brands) ARE readily available in black.

Thanks to all for the replies re. my Dawes. I have been wondering. Would it not be possible, somehow, to put it around on all forums, facebook groups etc etc. and gather together sufficient interest to put in an order for a short run of decent tyres in 26 x 1 1/4" tan wall with, say, Schwalbe, Panaracer, Vittoria or even Chan Sen (?) Surely SJS would take a few? Other online shops? Etc...?

Thanks, and well spotted re the rims. Yes it has 26" x 1 1/4" rims. So I am limited with tyres and simply cannot find any in tan wall! I have some black Schwalbes which will do. If anyone here has any in tan, please let me know! (I have even asked Tim Gunn, who lives near me, and he said, no, none available, you won't get them!) I am reluctant to scrap the original rims which are in good condition just for this reason.
