Yeah I tend to agree about the busyness, although the wheels and frame are both from mid 2000’s so I guess bikes back then used to be a bit more garish! Same with the alloy brake tracks, I had them completely destickered once but they look kinda odd with the silver ring around them.
In any case, the bike/wheels feel super fast… Just rode it up to Cambridge on Sunday and did my fastest avg speed ever, the front end on this bike sits really low and was easily cruising along at 30-40kmh . Although nearly crashed once because a strong crosswind gust pushed the front wheel which was pretty scary.
Long term I will probably build a new set of carbon clincher wheels. Several reasons, these Zipps are pretty heavy due to the alloy track, quite narrow and not tubeless compatible of course. New build will probably do a 55mm deep rim which will handle the wind better, tubeless and wide.
And more importantly will probably do it either all blacked out spokes/hubs, or in a homage to Zipp, polished spokes/hub with black carbon rims. Although polished/silver hubs have less choice.

Yeah to be honest when I weighed it I thought this too, it’s not on the top of my priority list. The forks I have already look great, I do like the look of the early 2000’s stuff when Carbon was still somewhat exotic so exposed carbon finishes were more fashionable. My guess is these forks def fit a 25mm not sure about 28mm but it might be a maybe. This might be a factor to nudge me to replace the fork at some point down the track
I stuck some polished 105 Sq taper cranks here if that is what you’re after. 165mm size
