I take it that the speed limit at RP is 20mph. Is there a reason for that?

    Because of the deer

Bit of a cuntish thing to do.

Stepping out without looking? Yeah. I don't think ringing a bell to indicate to someone that the road was actually being used by someone at the time counts as such. If he looks next time it'll save 2 people grief (him and whoever hits him...).

DAS'd by a guy running through Hyde Park (about 2:20ish), green t-shirt, dark shorts. I didn't hear it at first but I was with my son, who mentioned it so I obliged. I was the older guy, camo shorts/hat on a white bike/green rims. If you're on here Hi, I've never been DAS'd before :)

I wonder how long I can put up with that creak

    This creak is annoying
Why does a BB service cost so much
Why do the tools to do it myself cost so much
I wonder how long it's got left...

I think riding fixed makes you use your brains more, but then I guess it depends on the rider. I've seen plenty of riders of various styles of bike riding like they only wear a helmet to hide the lack of something on top...

    Sheldon Brown.

I used to cycle a lot when I was younger, my bike eventually got stolen, other things became more important. About 3~4 years ago I won some money on the lottery... enough to put towards a bike. I did some research, I wanted something simple, easy to maintain and that would give me a decent workout. I found Sheldon Browns website, explaining the virtues of SS and fixed. I bought a Marin Dominican. The day after I flipped the wheel and took off the rear brake (I figured I'd been off the bike long enough it would almost be like learning to ride again, so why not start as I meant to go on). I haven't looked back since. It doesn't look much like the original Dominican any more (bars, forks, stem, seat etc. all changed).

Although I never met the man, I was sad to hear of his passing, and still thank him silently to this day for the advice he gave me via his website. Thanks Sheldon.

Yesterday about 4:20 on Constitution Hill towards Buck Palace... got DAS'd by a group coming the other way (one was on a rather fetching magenta frame with black front spok). I was going a bit quick, but obliged anyway. I was the bike with the white frame and green rims.

    Hola :)
