He looked like he’d been coached by Ian Huntley.

He’s just not bright enough to think he was able to pull that off. And he’s a horrible condescending cunt.

I’m currently using Screwfix thermal gloves with nitrile gloves as a liner. It’s not really keeping me warm.

Climbing gloves are a great idea. I’ll look in Decathlon.

Neoprene cycling gloves might also work but I can see them disintegrating quickly handling gritstone.

Anyone got a recommendation for warm gloves that won’t take on water please? I’m building a dry stone wall and frequently handling wet stone.

I’m keeping warm and dry apart from my hands which is absolutely miserable.

My first run in several years yesterday was a triumph. Only ran 5km because I had to go to a family lunch and I’d massively overdressed. Managed 4.41/km which I was pleased with.

I want to do a half next year (probably in the second half of 2019) and ideally get round sub-1.30 to prove a point to a friend.

How many times a week do I need to run? Someone had suggested three: one endurance run, one which incorporates faster intervals and one at close to race pace, getting gradually longer. Does that sound about right?

Couldn’t agree more. Two handballs in the build up.

Robertson’s ball for the second was delightful. I can’t remember an English team having two better attacking full backs. Acquired at little or no cost too.

You’ll get fitter and better at testiig over the next couple of months so plenty of headroom to grow.

Plus, if you’re anything like me, you get turbo-adapted and get stronger from learning to overcome low inertia. I’ve always found myself flying on the road after a good block on the turbo.

There is/was a guy in Birmingham called Mick “The Tick” Baker whose trick was to buy half pints and tip them into Panda Pop bottles to drink at home so he could tick off more than his rivals.

‘Comedy’ Christmas jumpers. It’s the absolute worst example of fast disposable fashion and they’re deeply shit and unfunny to boot.

Thanks all - Decathlon is always a great shout.

I didn’t think I’d dress more stupidly than I did to cycle but I’ve just been looking at bumbags and headbands.

Planning to do a half next year and want to get training now, partly to beat my friends and partly because I’m not riding much and starting to get love handles.

Any recommendations for a good LS winter top? Do most people layer up? I run quite hot and hate the idea of having to stop to take something off.
