And of course they were making a big thing about their green credentials, while unnecessarily asking people to commute into the office when they'd just spent the past 2 years doing the same job from home.
My current employer is trying to calculate the carbon footprint of commuting compared to running the heating (or AC, they are North American) at home to show that commuting isn't that bad, perhaps.

If someone tells you one thing, you don't get it in writing and you turn up and find it is different you quit (or find another job) because at that point any trust is lost and it is pointless carrying on.
Employment contracts can be changed and there is normally fuck all you can do about it.
You can not accept it. I've done that. The exec weren't happy. I continued to work under my old contract.

Sometimes I want a US style pizza, other times an 'authentic' one. As long as it is clear which you are getting there is plenty of room for both in the world.
