Only good thing about that location is its proximity to Kings A&E.

Fingers crossed for the rider. Thoughts are with her and family and friends...

Right opposite my office. I saw the truck and the police tape this morning and sadly could guess what the outcome was.

RIP rider... you and your family will be in my thoughts

Agreed on the prices front. I was looking at a pal's from last year a few weeks ago and the download price was £24.99. So either it came down a lot with time... or it's gone up a lot.

The problem this year seems to be that there aren't a lot of pics (one of mine appears to be a tall bearded bloke and I'm none of those) and it's pricey. I'm guessing they'd get more take up (and therefore a similar amount of turnover for what are now fixed costs) if they had made the bundle £20 or £25

    ouch on that Trek.

I was in RP with a later-starting group so not speed merchants and the only slow/down stop we had was where there had been an accident where they'd brought an ambulance alongside so there was a tailback to get past it on a relatively narrow road. People were slowing on the hills but only saw people walking at Newlands and one at Wimbledon.

Surely they shouldn't just be track skills... I've always used look, signal, manoeuvre when commuting too - but yes, came in handy today.

Overall it was a good day though. The rain was so bad that it was funny so long as you didn't puncture - cycling through that tunnel in Kingston with water at about a foot deep was an experience. The people who came out to support did a brilliant job considering the weather.

My only down-side was the signposting to the start. I was in a big group coming out of the Blackwall tunnel (which was kinda fun in itself) but we were sent the wrong way by a marshall and ended up getting to a dead end which was a little stressful after it took us 20 minutes to get back on track with wave close-times approaching. Then, the colours did seem to be a little haphazard at points with quite a few people looking lost trying to find their start.

Coming up the Mall was fun though... with people banging the hoardings and felt quite special. The kit transfer did work well.... and I do like my medal.

Nappy rash ointment seconded on the tender spots, jazzythumper. I treated myself to the assos chamois cream when I registered and have to say that it's brilliant. I have no sore spots... at least at the moment.

RIP rider and condolences to those who loved you.

This week is truly horrific. I hope that these four deaths finally act as enough of a catalyst for our politicians to actually do something rather than just talk about it.

RIP rider. I can't believe another death in such a short time.

The press report it as the 11th death this year and compare it to the 14 in 2012. We are not in retail trying to beat last year's numbers. The target should be 0 and anything above that is a tragedy for someone's family and friends.

So sorry for everyone who cared about this man... my thoughts are with you.

A friend phoned me from the place on Thursday afternoon, & I went to leave flowers (one of the grimmest experiences of my life) at the weekend. I'm not sure if the flower place is where she was hit, or maybe has been moved?,

Sorry to vent slightly – hope y'all understand it's from the heart. Ride safely.

Hi Shiniqa - totally understand the venting.

I went to lay flowers on Wednesday night and was surprised by the lack of anything to mark the spot or witness signs. There were no other flowers there and I debated where to leave them. I was looking at the Standard's website to try to determine where the photo was taken when I met their reporter who pointed out where it happened. I left my flowers between those two gates - it did look like the picture when I looked closely - so I hope I haven't inadvertently put them in the wrong place. I found laying flowers there very emotional and I'm a stranger. I hate to think how horrible it must have been for you and Chiara's other friends and family.

Please let us know if you do decide to do anything - as another local commuter who has had a few close shaves with HGVs along the South Circular, I'd like to help/join in. It really was so close to home that I had a distinct sense of 'there but for the grace of god go I' .

{hug} Thoughts are most definitely with you.
