Can you advise what evidence you need in order to take action against dodgy Gumtree sellers?
Is it necessary to have a victim who can identify the bike before action can be taken against the seller? Or is a clearly dodgy ad (or series of ads) enough to proceed with (always assuming that you and your colleagues have the resources to follow it up...)?
Reason for asking - people on this forum often publish details of dodgy adverts seen on Gumtree/eBay in an attempt to trace the original owners, but I'm wondering whether this is counter productive as it may alert the sellers who may then remove the ads and therefore the evidence... maybe it would be better not to publish and just forward the details direct to you guys (or the "task force")?
Good luck with your project btw
