They really are gorgeous and fascinating - I have a couple of small ones from travelling in Turkey many years ago - from the Konya area, they really warm up a house.
Had similar recently - slushy surface that would spray up onto feet and then freeze. After a while my feet looked like fluffy whiteish sheep, super cold. Water bottles freeze solid too - no joke on a long ride.
Yep + 1 for the SV's - lovely things. Have had lots of different machines but fell in love with a 350 Royal Enfield. For British roads you need a bit of punch though. CB500 was my best ever commuter ( when I couldn't cycle of course ).
I had a Pipistrelle sleeping in my hand once - recovered from a rotten tree that had fallen in a storm.
I found a good place for the bat to continue its hibernation.
They're tiny and beautiful.
