  I'm installing a quill to 1" stem adapter and then putting a 1 1/8" shim on that. Should I grease the shim?

  I tested a CAADX last week and rather liked it (apart from the terrible brakes), I was surprised to find the 58cm fit, I thought I would have needed the larger size. Does anyone know how the CAADX sizing compares to the croix de fer - i.e. would I need the 58cm genesis rather than the 60cm? It's seemingly impossible to test ride a cdf at bristol evans.
