Have developed a habit of getting spendy on the vino + it's getting a bit out of control. Not volume wise, just price. Has anyone grown accustomed to a lofty (it's all relative) price point and had to ween themselves down a tier or two? It feels like a one-way street.

Yes, very sad. It does happen every year - almost guaranteed to uncover an underlying heart problem in someone given how many take part. Wonder if they will bring in requirement for medical signoff, like ASO do with the Etape du Tour.

    Bubbles with single dimensional people/views

Exactly as that'd be terrible. Imagine a place like that but with the opposite view + outlook. All remoaner, pseudo anti-capitalist craft-beard cunts, bashing tories and sneering at anyone in a suit...

Only time I felt good today was on the bike. Thank fuck for cycle commuting.

There is talk that he first 2 miles might be neutralised, with the timing officially starting 2 miles in.

That sounds bizarre. It is a sportive, not a time trial or a race, and since the road is very wide at the start and the waves are staggered, the first two miles aren't more crowded than the rest of the route.

In total I spent less than £25 (including the train home) for an amazing day's cycling.

Normally I come up with some ridiculous scheme that ends up being expensive, but with help from friends of friends waiting for us at the beach, this year was different.

    Train home: 18.75
    Suffolk-priced food + tea: 3.50

    Drone pic is supremely cool.

Woke up this morning 03:15 with a strange urge to ride.

Rode with a friend this time - a very different experience and more in the spirit I guess. Entire ride was in Z2 but the kms just flew by with company and no particular efforts. We got to enjoy dawn across the fields, which was beautiful. The food stand just before Framlingham was epic.

Q: What do you have without meat?

A: Macaroni cheese + vegan pasta with herbs

    Jaw drops

I bought some Pavés because they look fucking sadistic, and my right CroMo, after 7000K of city commuting, probably 3500x clipping in, occasionally pops off at max torque, like when a bus seems about to smash me into the pavement. Have tried new cleats + half heartedly cleaning but didn't bother to try replacing any bits. [EDIT: sold]

    Observations on Pavés:

    • They're heavier because there's now metal in places which used to be plastic
    • Clipping in and out feels different, they don't ping out so willingly as before + no satisfying click
    • The material under the bow ties where the spring sits seems tougher... the whole unit does
    • I can't tell the difference between the red and yellow cleats, and the yellow cleats seem to work fine
    • Being clipped in feels more solid but could just be new v old as both my Zero sets are quite old
