I had the same problem. Just kept fiddling till it worked. That and the fact my freehub is somehow wonky, so hopefully that’s not the case.

Limit screws should be set to stop chain dropping off the bottom. Apologies if you have this covered.

Gentle cycle - ignoring the bit through the bog that lead to soaked feet and hike a bike (and a destroyed derailleur and cassette and chain).
