For the record I have 3x9 deore with dura ace levers. Worked flawlessly for 9yrs now. Front friction, rear indexed.
Only issue I guess would be if you wanted to run a full frame bag. I don’t so it’s never come up.

Now that’s damned clever, alas I don’t have tooling to hand to sort that even tho it’s pretty straightforward.
Problem I’ve got with existing 1 1/4 stems is that they’re generally pretty darn long, especially nice retrogrouch mtb ones. GT is ace but the tt is pretty long compared with the st. 25.4 doesn’t phase me, the original risers do seem v narrow to me but that could be that I’ve got used to modern mtb width over the last year.
There’s nowt wrong with the stem I’ve got, I just kinda fancy black on black. Will keep an eye out tho.

I spoiled myself and went for new 1x10 deore.

No ‘guards it is then ;)
Part of me wants to swap bars/stem/post for black. Headset is stupid 1 1/4” size which makes finding a stem trickier unless I got ahead converter...

I have dt on my tourer as it gets used for different purposes and has switched between drops and risers often enough that I’m glad I don’t have to recable each time. I’ve also dropped/crashed it a few times so I def would have broken sti or bar end shifters by now..

This is now nearly finished. Just getting bb chased n faced and will go together next week.
Should I keep it rad or go full functional and add ‘guards?

Anyone interested in a kitchenaid grinder for spares/repairs? Motor went poof while my father in law was using it.
It’s probably just bushings need replacing but I’m not an appliance engineer lol! Not currently running and kitchenaid are tricky to deal with re: servicing but it’s a nice machine and gotta be worth fixing for someone.

Cos it fucking pissed it down every day I used nearly everything. Couple of bits I wish were lighter. I didn’t use the tiny folding stool this time but I really hate sitting on a wet floor so I’d prob take it again.
Could have got away with less food.
I got back on Tuesday as my knee fucked out on me after 5days.
I’d like a lighter/smaller tent, mat and bag ideally but not really anything else I’d change. My mat and bag completely fill an ortlieb which I didn’t think was an issue til my mate in Edinburgh showed me his thicker, warmer mat that deflated to no bigger than a coke can.

Looking forward to packing for warm rides again in a few months...

Oh and the bridge club rides like an absolute dream, really pleased with it. There were times I wish I had tractor tyres and times I wish I had slicks but the riddlers were ok.

Fun might not be the word. Def every day so far has been a sense of achievement.
I’ve turned off of the Badger as a lot of the trails today were a complete washout. I’m here on my hols, not to suffer.
Will take the drumochter pass tomorrow(a mere 460m paved compared to the Corrieyairack at 770m on rocks the size of grapefruit) to Pitlochry and then decide which way to turn. My knee aches so I’m not churning out the miles like I would normally. Bike isn’t swift but comfy as and has coped with all the conditions admirably.
