@prole yep I moved to East Ham 12 months ago (the rent in Wapping frankly ridiculous) and already I’m seeing quite a few positive changes, east ham north high street is a bit meh, and it’ll be a while before M&S or Waitrose move in, but everything you might possibly need is close by. You will notice a lot of young families out/about at weekends and the local primary schools have good records. It’s still a poor borough compared to the rest of London, which makes house prices affordable imho. My bike commute to Clerkenwell about 45 minutes each way via greenway and CS2. The bonus for weekend cycling is that within 30 minutes you are on back lanes with stables, allotments, without road traffic and the Essex region having tons of descent routes. If you fancy a spin out to the North Downs region, doable via woolwich ferry or foot tunnel. Check house prices on rightmove then come over for a spin some time.

Descended Roseland to Bourg St Maurice on my road bike 10 years ago with the fireflies .. it was exhilarating and terrifying in equal measure. The road tarmac was brand new, if I ever return to the alps gonna be on a motorbike.

@tonts, I would love to see Everton lift some silverware this season to launch them into Europe. Also if Ancelotti manages to get Ciro Immobile from Lazio, then you will have a formidable strike force.

@Markyboy, that’s outrageous. The owners of those properties clearly need to be reported with poor selection bias..

I’m way out east these days, not likely to do any major hills due to injured right knee, but keen to participate in some shape with donation.. if you can secure space to watch P>R that would be awesome, otherwise dodgy Eurosport connection will have to do, or I watch highlights on YouTube

Cool, everything is subject to plandemic, second wave etc. I will keep this event live until closer to the day.

Very happy to see this fella in the premier league. Saw him play a couple of times for Colombia, with his crowd pleasing football.

Looks like I’m alone this Christmas, so would like to lead this again, start with winter sunrise (nautical twilight) over the Thames, reconfigured route, later rendezvous in West End at 08.30, same sites planned.

Thanks to Object and Digger for creating this ride, to ensure that no one in our forum / bike community is alone on Christmas Day.

For those not familiar with the routine and tradition..

    meet up
    chat
ride London’s famous streets with minimum fuss
    eat festive treats
    share mince pies and sweets
share whiskey / whisky from hipster flasks
    look at stuff in windows
    drink coffee
    take group pic
