andrea at velorution developed his own sort of open plan cycle to work initiative in order to avoid the 10% cut that the cycle schemes take. the bike shop just invoices your company directly, and it's easy for any bike shop and any company to use, so maybe it would be worth bringing it up to your lbs and to your employer. here's a link to the info about it on the site :
http://www.velorution.biz/cycle-to-work-government-scheme/and if it's something that you're interested in pursuing, i will happily send you the 'employer implementation manual' and 'sample hire agreement' from work.
whie most of our customers are able to get their employers to go for it, there is a chance that your employer won't be open to it, not to mention that maybe your lbs might not be into it either, but the information is there if you want it.

So glad all is ok with you two and yes there will definitely be a summer ride. That policeman was talking about Jacqui!
that's who i suspected, actually.
you ladies look great, and i'm glad the sun came out for you all. can't wait for the summer ride. this is the second 50 fixed women ride i've added my name to, and have failed to attend. third time's a charm!

so disappointed that we missed it! we were on our way, and just about to cross over blackfriars when rachael took a tumble and landed on her head. happened right in front of a police car who was stationed there to moderate the roads for the marathon, so they quickly called for an ambulance and we went to the hospital :(
i'm happy to report that everything checked out okay, and rachael is fine now, if a bit sore. it's such a shame because she had come up from brighton specifically to do the ride. have heard rumours about a potential summer ride, so we're looking forward to that.
hope everyone had a good time!
(the policeman had even heard about the ride because as someone either canadian or american had stopped and asked him whether the bridge was closed because she was on her way south to join a ladies bike ride!)

skully, i <3 you.
tim, you asshole, that was a secret. i'm never telling you anything private again, and now i'm going to let all our brompton customers know what you do to the bikes before they get sent out. jerk.
smallbrownbike, you need to stop objectifying women on bicycles (or in bike shops). i bet you look at that awful website chicks on bikes.
huge16, although i was not involved in the exchange which took place between your girlfriend and andrea, i'm sorry to hear that it turned out to be an unpleasant experience. i'm sending you a pm.

Our housemate Alex is going away for 6 weeks from the middle of May until the end of June, and he's looking for someone to sublet the room.
The house is on Shacklewell Lane in Dalston, E8, and you would be sharing with 6 others: me, Lil John (eggpie), Monika (lovely polish girl who works with me at Velorution), Chessie (lovely new housemate who just moved in), and Will and Maz (lovely couple who keep mostly to themselves). sheep (xsheepx) technically lives here too, but he is always away, and is currently subletting his room to Monika.
It's a very friendly house with a big kitchen, a large front room, and a nice little garden with a picnic table (and a bike stand for uber convenient bike maintenance!).
the room is cosy and comfortable, and comes with a desk and chair, plants, a single bed, good light, and a nice view as it is at the top of the house.
It is a completely vegetarian house, meaning no meat allowed. non-veggies are more than welcome, as long as they are happy to respect the "no meat in the house" policy.
the cost would be £300 for the period of 6 weeks (or £200 if only rented for the month of June).
pics to follow.
This coming Wednesday, 27th October, is Messenger Appreciation Day, and in celebration of this, Velorution will be donating 10% (or up to £10, i.e. if a transaction is £100 or over, the amount donated will be £10) of all sales to the LCEF (London Courier Emergency Fund). So if you were planning on spending any money on bike bits in the coming week, please come see us on Wednesday so that part of your money can go to a good cause.
