Well yes. Thats only a brexit position part of it. Labour couldn't win with a) corbyn, b) too big a manifesto and c) the brexit position.
Just saying that chasing leave wasn't the way to go. Johnson already had that sewn up with the slogan and his deal. There is still a majority (just) of remain in the country. Running a remain campaign with a manifesto (and leader) that didn't scare off tory remainers, brought in lib dems might have been less disastrous. Once in power there are 5 years to introduce other policies. Popular policies in opposition won't butter the parsnips.

Or... Now there is a withdrawal agreement passed by Parliament we will have a confirmatory referendum on this, where we will back remain. We believe it is in the best interest of the country to be part of the EU but it is important for the people to confirm such a momentous decision. If the country backs leaving with this deal we will implement it and negotiate for a strong future outside the EU. Etc...

Fair enough, but as Dov said, it failed miserably last time we had a shot at it. And the cold hard truth is that the 2 parties who can make it happen are the 2 that never will because it doesn't benefit them.
The only electoral reform we are going to see will make the situation worse and be buried deep so the majority never really hear about it.

Pointless. Can say exactly the same for all elections in this country ever.
The result is a huge tory majority. That is all that counts.

    Johnson speech:

He says, after five weeks of electioneering, this country deserves a break from politics.

He wants people to be able to go about their business knowing that work is being stepped up in government to deliver growth.

eg Hoping everyone will look away while they reform a load of electorial and constitutional rules to give themselves unfettered power, minimal scrutiny and make it harder for anyone else to get elected.

LDs invited Labour to go fully tactical in certain seats. Labour said no. Blaming the Lib Dems for Corbyn's election failure is ridiculous.
I do give joint blame for their failure 2 months ago, when Johnson had a negative majority, to work together to pull us out of this before the election.

Christ - just seen Mark Francois increased his majority. 73% vote share.
    31,819 voted for Chris Grayling.
    31,021 voted for Daniel Kawczynski.
    So depressing...

Think I might have a lie down.

It'd cause the ERG to revolt, I think its reasonable to believe that they sold their support to Johnson for a WTO crash-out on 1st Jan 2021.

And now he doesn't need them. They know it too so will fall in line.

It's interesting in a way - can simply denying that Spanish ships are fishing in UK waters do the job? Lying has got him this far, after all, and if this election has shown us anything its that the truth does not matter.

I think it can. No-one really cares about fish outside of Grimsby anyway. He was still banging on about 40 new hospitals this morning - it's not true, never been true, never will be but he repeats it ad nauseam. Will do the same for fish and whatever else now because he knows he can get away with it.
