What your ballpark budget for this hardtail frame?
As if I could warrant the expense I’d buy a Curtis AM9 or AM7 without a doubt!

1x Fizik R1 white for summer road use
1x Giro Factor black for wet road use
1x Sidi Dragons for mtb and town riding
1x NorthWave Celsius mtb and 1x road for winter riding
1x Specialized 2FO for mtb flat pedals (these are very summery and vented)
1x 5 Ten Impact for flat pedal mtb (these are bulkier and warmer and normally paired with sealskin socks) -
SLX/Deore level is more than competent.
IMO, you’re better off putting your budget towards suspension, wheels, tyres and these will have a far greater effect on how your mtb performs.

I spoke to the police and they said the policy changed yesterday from turning away/advising visitors, to straight up/no way to avoid fine.

Can’t say for London and the Surrey hills but I rode through and around Cwmcarn today and police were set up at the entrance to the car park and fining anyone that had traveled over 5 miles to get there. No warning/go home, just a straight fine.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see this spread to more trail centres (if it hasn’t already) to enforce the current lockdown.
