I have no idea tbh , I've never ridden it before, but I'd like to next year.

Is this the correct site for the BCM next year? https://www.pedalution.co.uk/events/bryan-chapman-memorial-600-2/?reviews-page=3 I appreciate Audax types are typically not the best at the internet, and it's a bit far in advance, but I couldn't find much other information after a quick google.

Ultegra 11 speed is great and super reliable. I suggest the Genevelle set-up because they offer field repairability of downtube shifters without the need to reach. To be honest, though, I have never had any issues with Ultegra 11-speed mechanical, so perhaps I'm trying to solve an issue that doesn't really exist.

When I've thought this type of build through in the past, I keep wondering about Genevalle shifters on TRP Hylex Hydro brakes, Friction shifting makes a lot of sense to me for reliability and simplicity.

Why do you say this? I went to their showroom recently, and they seem very nice if a bit pricy.

I've been thinking about the same situation recently , fast and comfortable. Contact points is a big thing as you say as are fit and tyres. I think that a modern aero road bike with 32mm tubeless tyres , a comfy saddle , flared bars and mtb pedals with the cleats all the way back makes a lot of sense.

Seems like you are looking for a modern aero bike with some allowance for comfort, something along the lines of a Canyon Aeroad ?

The rider described the styling as "interesting" but that at least it was fast and then promptly got dropped .....

Bad photo but I would suggest that this might be the ugliest bike I've ever seen IRL.

Agree with the other answers here, I used a rigid 29er with WTB Nano 2.1s which was pretty ideal. Lots of gears and big fast tyres is the move.
