How about this? Used a bacon strip (Muc-Off) with the needle thing at London Bridge. Some miles later in Walthamstow, I heard a pop and knew the strip had launched itself out of my tyre like a missile. Put a dynaplug in and problem solved.

The tiny spring in the shifter body you mean? The whole assembly isn't great but mine did hold up for many years surprisingly. I changed more because I didn't like how flimsy and sensitive they felt, not due to any real fault.

CK on one bike is enough for me for the moment. A pity that there are so few options for coloured/anodized threaded headsets though. Maybe it's a good thing though, don't want the bike to look too overdone. Needs just the right amount of bling/coloured accents.

Before trying something more involved, try giving it a spray of GT85. I had a similar problem years back, took it to a Brompton dealer en route of my commute, and that's exactly what they did. The plastic can expand/contract and be rubbish. I then made it a routine part of my between service routine to spray/drop some thin lube. Eventually I switched to a Sturmey Archer shifter.

The man from Barnoldswick - gotta be that dude in the hope setup video whose dialogue I probably know by heart.

I might need some tips from you. I thought I had the process nailed until I moved them to the Force AXS bike.

Yeah, the Brompton stuff looks a bit too industrial. I prefer the look of the H&H and P/T line influenced racks. Just look at your chpt3 -you're not gonna stick anything but the best-looking kit on it, are you? ;)

Omni-wheels are good but when I saw them on a friend's Brompton IRL there was something about them I didn't like. Also I remember discolouration from dirt/grime vs simple black or slilver/grey wheels. I think the H&H rear rack (with light bracket) is my best bet for rolling and gives load potential if I need it. I just want to see actual examples of something tied to it though. Haven't found anything so far.

And they don't look as sexy either.

Lol. I'm in the minority of cyclists who's actually fitted to use 42cm or wider bars, and his current bag is more for older kids, so it could just about work.

Thanks. I think I've understood you, and that's good to know.

I think I've come up with a much easier solution. I'm supposed to be grabbing the Borough backpack tomorrow or Friday, so stick that on the front carrier block and just wear my kiddo's Smiggle backpack?
