Yep copying will sure bring the cost down. I guess back engineering costs are cheaper. But regardless of just copies, Shimano components are cheaper otherwise no one would buy them. If your only earning 5000 yuan a month you don't want to blow too much money.
So i guess the fear is things will break quickly, swing arm etc. from one of the vids the welding looked a bit sloppy, but is that more aesthetic? Would be good to hear from someone who has bought one

Yeah, I have found that Chinese knock offs sometimes aren't bad, the price is low mainly because their domestic market just won't pay what the western bourgeoisie pays. I once bought a copy of a surly long haul trucker frame. It was fraction of the price and did the same job. Also had a nice electric scooter before the police decided they were illegal.

I've been thinking of building a Bullitt cargo from a frames for a while, but sine there are none available second hand I'd have to buy a new one from Larry vs harry. But after spending a long time in china curiosity brought me to Alibaba.com. they have some cheap knock offs. my query is has anyone ever ordered or used one of these, how do they compare. I've ridden a Bullitt before and loved it.
Anyway here's what I found:
